Parents actually gasp ENJOYED watching and listening, as opposed to today and listening to the frozen suite for the 300000th time while groaning and wanting to commit suicide. It wasn't just for plunking the kids in front of to ignore them. Especially the older movies from the 50s and 60s suited literally all audiences. 1950s-1990s Disney targeted EVERYONE, not just kids. You don't stop being ticket money because you got older.
*Edit: gave my decision a bit more of thought, I liked Onward but it was already falling apart a bit, it has a Dreamworksy feeling to itĪctually it makes perfect sense. but I swear it's something about the storylines, because the characters, designs and animation are amazing, I still feel joy watching them, but then the whole thing just flops I'm not an expert at all of course, I can't pin-point at all whatever bothers me so much about the rythm of these newer releases. But there's something SO flimsy about their pace and how the characters are handled, they just leave me waiting for something more, the stories are not as firmly tied as they used to be, it's like they could benefit from another hour of exposure because it all just falls flat. I've loved Luca and Encanto specially from this "era" ig. But they lack a very crucial something that makes them very unsatisfying.At first I thought it was because those productions had to get finished during quarantine, it's normal it would be harder to produce it all remotely. I'm not hating at all on new releases, I've liked pretty much all of them.

The most recent Disney/Pixar movie I liked and that felt like a Disney film to me was Toy Story 4*, and ever since, all the movies that have come afterwards just feel. This post is a bit old but I agree so much.
